Head Chef - Chris Wheeler

Originally from Swanage in Dorset, Chris’ passion, enthusiasm and culinary excellence was spotted and nurtured from a young age. He started his career at the Domaine De Bassible Hotel and Michelin starred restaurant located in the cosy French town of Ségos.

Spotting Chris’ talent early on, celebrated Chef Jean Christophe- Novelli hired him, and Chris worked with Novelli for 10 years.

Chris joined Stoke Park in 2003 and has been building up the culinary reputation ever since with his fine-dining restaurant Humphry’s achieving 3 AA Rosettes. Chris’ favourite ingredient to cook with is Brookfield Farm Beef which he loves to roast and carve – perfect for Sunday Lunch!

Chris’ flexibility as a chef is legendary, whether it’ll be recreating the Olympic torch as an exquisite cake to celebrate London 2012 or cooking at Stoke Park’s annual Boodles event. This five day tennis challenge takes place at the end of June every year and sees Chris and his team plate up just short of 9000 delicious Three Course Lunches and Afternoon Teas.

If Chris isn’t in the kitchens, he can be found out and about doing fantastic things for the local community including running the marathon for a great cause, hosting a pop-up charity restaurant or getting stuck in at cake sales.

Chris is also a familiar face and voice to our screens and radios; he has appeared on Hell’s Kitchen 2, BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen and Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, Capital FM, BBC Berkshire and Chef Radio with more television and radio appearances planned in the near future...
