A Year To Remember

12 Dec 2017

As 2017 draws to a close, we have created a round-up of some of our favourite highlights from the year!

1. Outstanding Accolades

2017 has been an incredible year for accolades and awards. Thanks to the fantastic work of Executive Chef Chris Wheeler and the team, we were awarded the prestigious 3 AA Rosette Award for Culinary Excellence for the fifth year running! Great Golf Magazine crowned Stoke Park as the ‘Gourmet Golf Resort of the Year 2017’, while Square Mile Awards named Stoke Park the ‘UK Golf Resort of the Year 2017’, crediting Chris with “cooking the best food of his career”.

2. Fabulous Festivals

Our team have had the pleasure of catering for exquisite events and attending plenty of foodie festivals. Chris has attended each and every event in person with members of his team; from cooking at Taste of London, to judging delectable bakes and closing the show on the main stage at the Thame Food Festival. He also held cooking demonstrations at the Countryfile Fair and judged the Hotel Chef of the Year Awards, which he won in 2016, for the Hotel Cateys.

3. Spectacular Events

Stoke Park has hosted many events this year too, with our team catering for the glamorous 25th Summer Ball, the popular Ladies Lunches and The Boodles tennis event. Spread over five days, our team created three courses each day for over two thousand people, on top of creating delicious tennis themed Afternoon Teas. Hailed by A Luxury Travel Blog as “mass catering of Michelin Star quality”, they dubbed the event “as a triumph” thanks to our team’s hard work.

4. Making A Difference

Following his fantastic run in 2017, we’re delighted to report that Chris has been appointed the UK Ambassador for the Quality Standard Mark Beef and Lamb Scheme for a second year running. Chris has raised awareness of the need for high quality beef and lamb, the impact the quality of life makes on the meat and the delicious recipes you can make from all the different cuts. Chris was so successful that Hello! magazine featured his fillet of beef as the top fine dining recipe of the week.

5. Incredible Fundraising

Finally, we’re delighted to report that Chris has raised a large amount of money for charity, with over £5,000 going to the Chatterbox and Crisis charities. He has auctioned his culinary talents off throughout the year, with the highest bidder winning a personally cooked three course meal for eight guests in their own home. With eight lucky bidders winning this remarkable honour, Chris has certainly been busy with his charitable deeds in 2017.

With so many fantastic moments, 2017 will certainly be a year to remember! We wish you a wonderful New Year and we hope to welcome you in 2018, where we’ll be unveiling exquisite new menus and dishes!
