Get ready for alfresco dining and blissful barbecues, the summer is here!

Why not try out my delicious and very easy food ideas for the warm days ahead.

Nothing says summer like spending long sunny evenings with the BBQ sizzling. Invite your friends round and serve up a feast... For the classic BBQ burger lovers, buy some Quality Standard Mark (QSM) meat to pop on the grill. I’m proud to be an Ambassador for the QSM scheme which guarantees the quality of the meat, ensuring you will cook up the most succulent burgers in your very own back garden. Make sure to cater for all dietary requirements too. For the Vegetarians make colourful Kebabs packed with Tomatoes, Courgettes, Halloumi, Sweetcorn, Mushrooms...the options are endless. Or maybe you have a Pescatarian to cater for? Why not try barbecued Salmon, flavoured with Honey and Soy Sauce.

If you fancy a light bite, serve up a Salad that burst with summer’s most colourful fruit and veg! Nothing is more refreshing than fresh Lettuce picked straight from the vegetable patch, combined with crunchy Cucumber, ripe Avocados, pink Pomegranate, tasty Tomatoes and either Roasted Chicken or a few Boiled Eggs depending on your preferences.

Don’t forget about the kids! The summer holidays are just around the corner so to help keep them entertained why not bring sunny Mexico into your own back garden. Have fun with Fajita’s! They’re a tasty treat, yet still packed with plenty of protein, calcium and vitamins. I suggest using wholegrain tortillas with your favourite toppings including Chicken, Peppers, Onions, Tomato Salsa, Quacamole, low-fat Cheese and fat-free Yogurt or Sour Cream.

As a sweet snack, swap the Slush Puppies for frozen Fruit Pops. Simple and easy to make, pour your favourite fruit juice (and fruit chucks if you fancy) into moulds and freeze. They’re the perfect way to help cool down on hot sunny days.
